What is the best scar cream you can buy?

If you are looking for the best scar cream, you should know that, despite the manufacturers’ promises, there is no cream, which will completely eliminate your scar(s). What you will see is improvement, but not total elimination. If you are looking for an honest look at a scar eliminating cream, it is a good idea to browse the user reviews off of sites like Amazon.com. Here are some observations I made about some of the best selling scar creams:
Mederma Scar Cream: The best scar cream?
The reviews on this product were
very good. Although users admitted that the creams did not completely
wash away their scars 100%, it diminished them to the point of them not
being at all noticeable. Some users noted that it took around 1 month
for the cream to lessen the severity of their scar(s). Other users
noted that it took half a year. A lot of the people who used these
product said that they started applying Mederma before the scar started
developing. As such, if you have a really old scar, Mederma is likely
to be less effective. Although some users acknowledged a study, which
claimed that this scar removal product is no better than petroleum
jelly, they claimed that Mederma is better than any petroleum jelly.
Bottom line: Mederma will help diminish the appearance of your scar(s).
You might, however, get the same results if you buy the much cheaper
petroleum jelly.
Scar Away Scar Cream: The best scar cream?
Although Scar Away isn’t a scar cream, it is similar in that it is a patch with gell in it. The reviews on this product were just as good as the one on Mederma. Although users saw very noticeable improvements, they complained about how this patch would not stay on long enough. I was also pleased to see that a lot of users saw improvements in their old scars. Bottom line: Like Mederma, Scar Away is a scar cream that works. It will help decrease the appearance of your scars. However, while using this product you may have problems with making it stick on your skin.
It is my personal opinion that a lot of these reviews are overly-positive. I would bet that the people who reported seeing results in 6 months or so would have seen some results with or without any “scar erase cream”. Think about it. When you buy a product, you want it to work. As such, when you see some results, you attribute it to the product rather than time, which might have played a role as well in making your scars look better. Regardless of this, these folks did see results. So whether you buy a scar removal cream in your local pharmacy or online, you’ll likely see improvement in your skin. Just keep in mind of the scar cream price. Maderma, for example, is a really expensive cream and there are cheaper alternatives. In the end, there is no "best" scar cream out there. Because we all have different skin types, what works for one may not work for another. Regardless, Maderma and Scar Away are two scar care options, which you should take a look at. There are, of course, other scar cream options other than these two. Whatever you buy, don't expect any miracles in your search of that best scar cream.

True what you say, that "time" alone may be all you need so see improvement in your scar. Fact: ScarAway is silicone sheeting and silicone sheeting is clinically proven to reduce scars and prevent a scar from forming. No cream or oil can make that statement
I've had 3 knee surgeries, the first of which was in 2002 from a doctor who really didn't know what he was doing. As a result, I got this huge scar on my knee with 13 little raised scars from the stitches, that I call my football laces. I'm Asian, so I get keloid scars and eventually I just stopped caring about it since I didn't think there was anything I could do about it.
I had another surgery in 2006 where the doctor removed my old scar (still had the laces), and I again did nothing. My scar started out as thin and much prettier, but because I didn't take care of it, it eventually spread because of the stretching of the skin while my knee bent.
Third surgery was in January of this year, the doctor removed my scar again and kept the laces, but this time, I've decided to take care of this scar.
I started using Mederma 4 times a day 5 days ago and I all ready see a HUGE difference! My raised laces have smoothed out and are starting to fade. I'm not kidding. The place where my drain was is healing well and the big scar itself is looking great. It's not too red or scary, and it's totally soft and looks like a "normal" scar. I can't wait to see it in another month or two, the timeframe that Mederma recommends.

I'm from Mongolia and would like to know if there is any distributer of this scar cream in our country. there are many of the scar creams sold in Mongolia, somehow useless result. pls reply to my @, thanks!
I've had light old scar on my leg... I try to use mederma if it is really work. good luck to my scar. ^_^

Interesting to know. I used to think it was Bio oil but a hubber pointed out it had some dangerous ingredients.
